New Logo for Town of Columbus |
|
| From Stillwater County News, March 19th

The
Town of Columbus has unveiled the final version of the award winning
logo which will soon adorn town stationary, business cards and
anything else officials wish to brand. The logo was designed by Columbus High School student Jayson Robbins and Big Sky Prints
then made some adjustments and digitized it, according to Laura
Paonessa, a clerk for the town who is helping oversee the project.
One
change was the date - from 1882 on the original to 1907 on the final
product, which is when Columbus was incorporated. The logo will
be used on city vehicles, the website (which is currently under
construction and expected to be finished soon), stationery, business
cards and anything else the town chooses, said Paonessa. Robbins,
a junior at CHS, was one of 20 entries in the contest that was judged
by a panel. Robbins received $100 for winning.
The logo was will soon be displayed on a plethora of Columbus-owned property.

7 Ways to Build a Fan Club Around Your Brand
From Harvard Business Review
A
business can't afford not to have an online community dedicated to its
brand, say Susan Fournier and Lara Lee, who helped muster the owner
enthusiasm that saved Harley-Davidson from extinction. "In today's
turbulent world, people are hungry for a sense of connection; and in
lean economic times, every company needs new ways to do more with what
it already has," they write. Read more...
The Destructive Powers of One Selfish Jerk
From Harvard Business Review
He
may be brimming with talent, but a "jerk" like Manny Ramirez will drag
his team down, says commentator Frank Deford. One Boston Red Sox
teammate described Ramirez as a "cancer" to the club. The effect
is common in business, too. A recent study at U.S. companies
showed that nearly half of respondents respond to rudeness on the job
by decreasing their efforts. Read more...
When "Bonus Rage" Turns Violent
From Financial Times
Vandals
have damaged the Edinburgh home of Fred Goodwin, the former Royal Bank
of Scotland CEO who has been castigated for an ultra-plush
pension. "This is just the beginning," a group claiming
responsibility warned. Meanwhile, workers at a 3M factory in
France held their boss captive
in his office for more than 24 hours. U.S. executives are
worried, too. AIG CEO Edward Liddy says he's had vivid death
threats, and former Bear Stearns CEO Jimmy Cayne may be employing armed
guard.

A Benefit We Can "Get Behind" - Colonoscopy
Chamber Choices added several preventive and wellness benefits for 2009
(dental exam, EAP, maternity management program, etc.). However, there
is one benefit that Chamber Choices is particularly proud to support
and "get behind" all year - the colonoscopy benefit.
March is

time to highlight the colonoscopy benefit added to Chamber
Choices. To read the entire article, click here.

| On The Web: What does the difference between "http" and "https" mean to you? |
|
It Is All About Your Security
From the Better Business Bureau's Tips of the Week
An email which has been circulating for some time, explaining the difference between http and https (the acronyms placed before web site addresses), is circulating again and has been brought to BBB's attention.
BBB
wishes to make people aware of what the difference is between having
either of these acronyms before a web site address, because it refers
directly to safeguarding your computer use AND your personal info!
What is the difference between http and https? Snopes has a good explanation - to read about it, click here.
